In November 2017 the City of Joliet became the first Greater Chicagoland municipality to remove their on-street single space parking meters and place into operation multi-space pay stations. Twenty Cale CWT terminals are now in operation as pay and display terminals throughout the downtown district. The parking staff no longer need to maintain and collect the two hundred and fifty meters. Much less labor intensive and much more efficient for both staff and the public. The pay stations accept credit card and coin payment with pay by phone not far behind.
