The City of Evanston Employs Pay by Plate Parking Terminals on Sherman Street

As of November 2017, the conversion from single space credit cards meters to Cale CWT pay by plate terminals has begun. The city chose pay by plate over the pay by space or pay and display they have operating in their off-street parking lots because it combines the best of both worlds. No numbering or delineating of spaces as required in Pay by Space and no need for the parker to walk back to their vehicle to display their receipt as in Pay and Display. All that’s required is enter your license plate number, make your payment, and they are on their way. All information is then held in Cale’s back office system for LPR enforcement, records, and reporting.

Joliet’s Central Business District Parking System Enters the 21st Century

In November 2017 the City of Joliet became the first Greater Chicagoland municipality to remove their on-street single space parking meters and place into operation multi-space pay stations. Twenty Cale CWT terminals are now in operation as pay and display terminals throughout the downtown district. The parking staff no longer need to maintain and collect the two hundred and fifty meters. Much less labor intensive and much more efficient for both staff and the public. The pay stations accept credit card and coin payment with pay by phone not far behind.

It didn’t take Total Parking Solutions very long to convince the Village of Worth officials on what was needed to make the life easier for their commuters and village staff. The outdated honor boxes had more than run their course and Cale 104XL’s were ready to replace them. Commuters can now pay with bills, coins, and credit cards and enforcement can be accomplished in minutes on WebOffice, the Cale back office system. All paid and unpaid spaces can easily be accessed on any web-enables device (phone, tablet, or laptop).

Peoples Parking in Chicago’s South Loop Replaces Digital Pay Stations

A parking operator has decided that the time has come to make the changeover from Digital to Cale. Over the past several decades, because the programming capabilities of Digital machines met the varied rate structures that operators require, parking operators went with Digital. However, since the introduction of the Cale CWT and WebOffice 2, they have another option. In February, Peoples Parking and T.P.S. agreed to conduct a one-month trial of a CWT at one of their garages. After only one week, a purchase order was issued for six units. Programming rates for the likes of the South Loop could now be accomplished and parking operators can appreciate the autonomous operation of Cale pay stations and exceptional service from Total Parking Solutions.

The Village of Oak Park Expands Multi-Space Meters to On-Street Parking

On-street parking in the Village of Oak Park has finally caught up with their off-street program. A contract has been awarded to T.P.S. to install and service twenty-nine Cale CWT pay stations beginning this summer. The Village has allocated funds to replace their 1,500 single space meters over the next five years (twenty-five machines annually) until completed. The pay stations will operate as pay by plate and are to be integrated with a soon to be selected LPR system. This full upgrade of their operation will eliminate countlesshours of manpower and make parking enforcement completely seamless.

With a New Boat Launch in McHenry Comes TPS and Cale

The City of McHenry needed to provide access for boaters to the Fox River. To offset the expense of the new boat launch and parking lot, they decided that charging for the boat trailer parking would be the easiest.   A Cale CWT was installed adjacent to the launch where, after dropping their boat into the water, they can pay to park their vehicle and trailer with cash or credit cards, display their receipt and get on the water. Residents of McHenry are given a discounted rate by way of a code they can enter on the keypad as they pay. Credit card payments are real time and are automatically deposited daily into the City’s account.
